Louis Vuitton Japan Inspired Fashion Show

Inspired by Japanese art and culture, Louis Vuitton fashion designer, Nicolas Ghesquière staged what has been said to be one of fashion’s most spectacular shows.

Set in Japan of course, at The Miho Museum in Korea, south-east of Japan, the elite fashion brand had models wearing anime inspired designs, dragon emblazoned jackets, embellished jackets, leather boots and kimono-esque belts.

Pieces at the show were colorful, stunning, trendy and mostly wearable. It is easy to relate to the lace up boots, graphic printed cardigans, oversized jackets, simple yet stylishly tied belts on a daily basis. The models wore colorful Japanese inspired face paintings with free tumbling uncombed hair and accessorized with leather gloves, fancy colorful scarfs, and the latest bags from the brand.

However, as important as the brand’s latest is, great detail and attention was given to the location of the show, a suspension bridge emerging from a mountain range at the museum.

Power Chic: Structure meets Sensual

We wouldn’t be expecting any words less than fashionable and classy from Victoria Beckham’s style and on Thursday, wearing matching navy blue wool cardigan with a breezy skirt, Mrs. Beckham stayed true to her unique fashion and style.

With the ensemble coming from her own fashion line, there was no better model for the eponymous brand than Victoria Beckham herself, strutting her stuff to a business meeting.

Channeling the modern day power boss, Victoria ensured that sexy and feminine sensuality wasn’t over ridden by cleverly pairing the sheer floaty skirt with the navy wool cardigan pulled to the elbows and worn over a well tailored crisp white shirt.

The former Spice Girls singer, accessorized with dark sunshades, a  boxy leather satchel bag and black knee high leather boots; and finished off her glam look with silver studded rings.

To channel Victoria Beckham’s office power look, you can ditch the wool cardigan for a wool scarf; if opting for an elongated silhouette, you can pair a crisp white cotton oversized men’s shirt with a penciled pinstripe skirt and Chelsea boots. It’s a must try.

Have a lovely fashion slay day.

Style Icon Watch 32: Jennifer Lawrence

Jennifer Lawrence’s name was cinched as a style icon from the very first time her character’s gown in Hunger Games caught fire 🔥. Since then, Jennifer Lawrence style has moved from her iconic Hunger Games to flattering, feminine, classy yet simple styles that are more her own.

J. Law’ s style and fashion simply represents her. Her standout statement look, was first, a sharp and professionally done pixie hair cut that fast became a hairstyle trend. And when it came to clothing, Jennifer went for comfort and personal style as against glamour and trend; this doesn’t mean she can’t bring it on when she wants to (her much talked about white strapless ball gown to the Oscar was a winner and still is).

Jennifer Shrader Lawrence is an American actress born August 15, 1990. According to Wikipedia, Lawrence has been the highest-paid actress in the world since 2015, and her films have grossed over $5.5 billion worldwide. She appeared in Time ‘s 100 most influential people in the world in 2013 and Forbes Celebrity 100 the following year and in 2016.

Lawrence’s fame grew with her starring role as Katniss Everdeen in the Hunger Games film series, which established her as the highest-grossing action heroine of all time. She went on to earn various accolades from her collaborations with director David O. Russell. Her performance as a depressed widow in the romance film Silver Linings Playbook (2012) received an Academy Award for Best Actress, making her the second youngest Best Actress Oscar winner . Lawrence subsequently won a BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for playing a troubled wife in the black comedy American Hustle (2013). She also received Golden Globe Awards for her roles in both of these films and for playing the eponymous inventor in the biopic Joy (2015).

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Cape Town:Ituen Basi’s Slay Collection

Nigeria’s Ituen Basi presented her Autumn/Winter collection at the Cape Town Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week and she gave a whole lot of slay factor.

With clean, professionally cut pieces, Ituen’s collection was progressive in that each piece was attentively put together to showcase African fashion in the now and in the future.

The collection was an everyday women wear, but was not just for everyday but represented a classy, unique style, somewhat ‘a don’t forget me’ look in beautiful colorful fabrics.

Ituen Basi did a really good job in the use of florals and tassels as a foundation and as accents; and of course an Ituen Basi collection would always have Ankara or African prints, her signature piece, and she beautifully blended it with chiffon and silk. I will not forget to mention the polos and blouses, how they stand out and accentuate the skirts or pants they were tucked into, they did it for me, sealing my love for the collection.

The accessories were not too much, she preferred to let the pieces do the talking.

Not Functional but Innovative

Although the comfort you will get from wearing this is clearly in doubt, however it is relatively new and innovative and a first look for many of us who haven’t seen such expansive use of texture in today’s fashion industry.

This is a gorgeous piece made entirely from newspapers from the coffers of Studio 24, a professional photography and multimedia company in Lagos, Nigeria. There is no mention of the designer of this remarkable piece but kudos to him or her.

Set in the beautiful streets of Lagos, Nigeria’s fashion capital, the newspaper inspired gown modeled by Isis Models Ibukun Sammy is not about functionality but about beauty and fun.

Styled by Stephanie Daniels, the team behind this awesome layered dress sure knows how to read them and style them.

Featuring intricate flower details on each shoulder, the dress which has a hint of chiffon material also features a sweetheart neckline with a snug bod and from there flows an endless layer of newspapers in a sweeping ruffle. The makeup which is exactly the choice of makeup for the bourgeois characters in the Hunger Games thriller, is beautiful and bold and contrasting, and gives the necessary attention such an ensemble will require.

It’s totally great and I like the fact that it’s different and ambitious in a lovely way.

Beautiful People

The words melanin popping has been trending in some social media sites and I thought it would be appropriate to borrow the words for this post.

Meet Khoudia Diop, a US based Senegalese model who is making waves for her stunning skin.

Covered in big petals, Khoudia’s African bantu knots and black skin sets off one of the photos. In one photo, the model is pictured wearing a rainbow colored two piece while in another her floral big palazzo pants is setting major fashion goals.

The Senegalese model accessorized with statement earrings and a white flower, while her makeup consisted of bright colorful shades of eyeshadow and lipstick.

Unlikely combo that works!

From cool to crazy to unbelievable, the Kardashian/Jenner women give us every day style classics that are necessary for your wardrobe revamp.

Who would believe that wearing pajamas with jeans will look so good, except for when Selena Gomez wore full pajamas and totally slayed the look.

Well, Kourtney Kardashian gave us a new take on wearing  pajamas. The Kardashian sister was spotted in Beverly Hills wearing a pajama top stylishly tucked into faded blue jeans.

With her long hair let loose, Kourtney completed her look with big sunglasses, a black clutch purse and matching high heels.

Pajama top and jeans or simply pajamas paired with a baseball cap, a black velvet choker and black high heels is exactly what I want to try.

Kendall 👍👍👍👍

All eyes 👀 on me!

For a lunch date with her mum on Wednesday, Kendall went all fifty shades of yellow in her outfit.
Wearing head to toe yellow and a matching yellow purse, the supermodel and reality TV star was stunning.

The tall and slender Keeping Up With The Kardashians star who is also a Vogue cover star wore a yellow sexy negligee with lace trimmings at the neckline which she tucked into an even brighter yellow big flared pants with ruffles. The model completed her outfit with a yellow matching sandals featuring frills.

She accessorized with bold hoop earrings, a necklace and black sunglasses. Kendall looked slick, confident and elegant, with her black hair neatly tied back behind her head.

Bold for Change

The tailoring of this collection is detailed and neat. Each piece evokes ease, a very unrushed feeling as if the wearer has all the time and day to look beautiful, and indeed you are likely to feel that way either wearing the polka dot off-shoulder dress with ruffles below or the pink figure hugging one shoulder gown with a flirty neckline.

The “Bold for Change” collection by women’s wear brand Woman by Aisha in celebration of women in all spheres of life, gives you elegance and ease in its bold yet soft, feminine designs.

With an array of eye-catching colors, this stand out pieces with cutouts, slits, off shoulders, bareback and well thought out layers are edgy and elegant, giving us a cocktail mixture of the youthful girl feeling and the sexy daring woman.

With minimal accessories, the collection resonates modern and 2017 with trendy, on demand plastic shoes.

I am currently imagining myself in the pink dress with long black slicked back hair and bold hoop earrings. Awesome!

The concept of first impressions

We often hear the words ‘Dont judge a book by its cover’. The question is how willing we are to open the book and read. Its quite easy to be judgmental. To place yourself at a distance and look at issues at our own point of view alone, not minding anyone else’s.
Probably because of our own failings and insecurities, we address others supposed faults and deliberately shut our eyes to the speck in ours.
